Anxiety Plus Autism: Anything but Neurotypical

xMindsWire December 2020

Anxiety Plus Autism: Anything but Neurotypical

JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16 @ 7pm

Individuals on the autism spectrum frequently struggle with anxiety, but parents and teachers don’t always recognize it as anxiety. They might interpret it as a maladaptive behavior, work refusal, demand avoidance or many other presentations. Why? Because students on the spectrum often experience anxiety differently than neurotypical students. What are the triggers we sometimes overlook? What are the unexpected reactions anxiety can produce? What approaches are best for supporting these students at home and in class?

Join us to find out how anxiety may be affecting your child on the autism spectrum, and what you can do to help. Our guest speakers are
Jonathan Dalton, Ph.D., licensed psychologist and founder and director of the Center for Anxiety and Behavioral Change (CABC) and Jeremy Pedneau, a 28-year-old autistic adult and recent graduate of UMBC living in Montgomery County with his parents and working as a piano tuner.

No More Fees for Family Membership

XMINDS PROVIDES EQUAL ACCESS TO ALL

The Board of xMinds is very happy to announce that, in the interest of making our resources more widely accessible, we have eliminated our $40 annual membership fee. Now all families and educators can access our website resources, attend our speaker series, and engage our volunteer educational advocates at no cost whatsoever.

It is our hope that we will be able to recoup our lost revenues with increased donations from those of you who are able to support our work. We very much appreciate any support you can provide as we attempt to remove all financial barriers that might keep families from accessing resources they need. Please consider donating here.

Our Website is Reorganized!

We've reorganized our website and updated our content to better meet the needs of our MoCo families and educators. We think you'll find it easier to find the resources you're trying to locate. Come peruse our new website!
